Dear Parents & Guardians,

I want to welcome you to Marion Preparatory Academy!  We are very excited to be here in Marion, OH as another education option for our community.  In just a few weeks, we will be opening our doors to a new school and a new school year.  I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the year to come!

At Marion Preparatory Academy, every scholar is supported on their journey to mastering the material and growing academically, socially, and emotionally by a team of dedicated educators.  I know that we will reach our goal to becoming the premier school in Marion, OH.

We cannot do what we do each day without you, our school family.  We are so lucky to have such a wonderful parent community, and your support makes a huge difference.  Let us know how you would like to be involved to help make Marion Preparatory Academy even better!

As a reminder, school starts August 14, 2019.  Doors will open at 7:30am, and instruction will begin at 8:00am.  Dismissal for our students will be at 3:00pm.  You are welcome to bring your child into school the first day, but I would encourage everyone to come to the open house on August 7 from 4:00pm-6:00pm if you would like to see the classroom and meet the teacher.  Our number one priority is to keep your child safe; therefore, after the first day, visitors will only be allowed in the building at arrival and dismissal times if they have an appointment.

Jennifer Hutton, Principal

Mrs. Jennifer Hutton joined Marion Preparatory Academy as founding principal in 2019 with over 18 years of experience as a K-8 teacher and school administrator. She previously served as the principal of Youngstown Academy of Excellence. Under her leadership, Youngstown Academy of Excellence improved by two letter grades as measured by the Ohio Department of Education, and consistently outperformed its local school district average on absolute and value-added measurements. Prior to joining ACCEL Schools in 2016, Mrs. Hutton served as a teacher and administrator in Youngstown and Columbus.   She also spent time as an Educational Specialist for the Ohio Department of Education where she managed the Teacher Incentive Fund grant of 4.5 million dollars, and provided support to districts across Ohio on multiple state initiatives and programs. Mrs. Hutton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Arts degree in English with concentrations in Teaching English as a Second Language and Writing, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Youngstown State University. She is additionally certified to teach Grades 1-8 and  licensed as a PK-12 principal in the state of Ohio.

Ashley Ferguson, Regional Vice President

Ashley Ferguson joined ACCEL Schools in 2019 with over 18 years of experience as a K-12 educator and principal in Florida, Ohio, and New York. As Regional Vice President at ACCEL Schools, she oversees leadership development, instructional programming, operations, and strategic planning for multiple schools in Central Ohio. She is an alumna of the National Principal Academy Fellowship, the Fisher Fellowship, New Leaders for New Schools, and Teach For America.  Ms. Ferguson received her School Building Leadership Certificate from Baruch College, her Master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment from Walden University, and her Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Cincinnati.
